Super Thursday

After a couple slow days of fishing, things picked up on the marathon. It wasn’t a blockbuster day but a good day of fishing. Some nice cod and pollock were caught, even a handful of some big hake. We haven’t seen many of those in a while.

Still some room for the weekend. Looks like a beautiful weather one too. Give us a call.

Monday Fishing

Wow, Another great day aboard the Yankee Clipper. capt. Josh put the boat on the fish again. Some big cod, haddock and pollock. it just keeps on getting better.

Weekend Update

Great fishing this weekend on both all day boats and 1/2 day fishing. There was a steady bite of both cod and haddock. The Patriot saw a steady pick of fish both days. The Clipper pulling double duty on Saturday and Sunday had great fishing on the anchor. Alot of nice cod and haddock. Both afternoon 1/2 day trips were the best we have seen all season. Some nice size pollock were caught.

Sunday the Clipper boated a 41lb (Torpedo Nobiliana) Atlantic Torpedo Ray. No one here can ever remember seeing one before.

Fridays fishing

Fishing was about average on Friday. There was a slow haddock bite but no real flurry of excitment. everyone seemed to pick a few haddock, mostly on bait. I saw a lot of fishing talent on the boat today. Lets see how they make out.

Half day yesterday was pretty hot. Some nice haddock and big redfish were landed. Come on up for the weekend and drop a line

Marathon

Fishing is back on track this week. Great fishing on both the all day trips and 1/2 day. Capt Josh had a great day on the marathon yesterday. Great mix of cod and haddock. we still have some room for the weekend. clipper leaves at 6 am and Patriot at 7am.

Half day fishing has landed some nice haddock this week. They have also avoided the green eyed dogfish. Come on up and fish with us!

Tuesday/ Fish’n Chicks

After a slow week of fishing, things have picked up again. Tuesdays Limited Capacity trip was very successful. An even mix of cod and haddock with some cusk thrown in. Bait seems to be out fishing the jig, but some nice cod have been caught on jigs.

Fisn’n Chicks was a good trip again. Although a little shy of people, the Ladies had a great time. Some nice cod and haddock were caught. Quite a few cusk were caught as well.

We had a little lapse of reporting the last week or so. We will be back on track from here on out.

Good Fishing Continues!

Capts. Josh and Kirk report a solid week of fishing, with cod and haddock making up the majority of the catch but with some pollock and cusk in the mix too. Dogs have become a bit more of an issue this week, but anglers fishing one baited hook close the sinker have been catching groundfish through the hounds. Two-hook bait rigs are a sure-fire way to spend the day dealing with doggies and tangles. Jigs, as per usual, have been taking most of the larger cod and pollock.

Two all-day boats are sailing both tomorrow and Sunday–join us!

Summertime Codding at its Best!

Capts. Kirk and Josh report a great weekend of all-day fishing aboard the Yankee Patriot and Yankee Clipper, respectively. Nice clean market cod in the 6-10-pound range have been comprising most of the catch; they’ve been eating both bait and jigs, although jigs have been culling most of the bigger pool-winning fish, which have been in the low twenties.

Haddock have been the second most-caught species after cod, with most of them being taken on bait but with some mondo specimens like Linsel Clarke’s 10-pounder on Saturday succumbing to the jig. Some pollock have been around as well, not as many as there were in June but instead the more standard summer sprinkling on each trip with fish ranging from mediums to 20-plus-pound jammers. Some cusk, wolffish (released, of course), and a few white hake round out the take on what have been a very good couple of days of summertime fishing. Dogfish appear to have moved further inshore and haven’t been too much of an issue on the all-day boats–fingers crossed. Despite the steamy summertime weather, there’s still plenty of life out on the grounds, with birds, whales and tuna joining schools of groundfish in a collective assault on various baitfish, mainly spike mackerel and herring. Thursdays 5-5

Fishing was great on Super Thursday. Capt.Josh filled up alot of coolers. Cod, haddock, and pollock mix. There were even some cusk tossed in as well. Lot of heavy coolers came over the rail. Bait and jig are both doing well.

Half day fishing has been good if we can avoid the endagered Dog fish . For those who can keep their bait on the bottom, fishing is good. Don’t forget to make a reservation if yo plan on coming up to fish. Don’t get stuck on the dock.

Wednesday /Patriot

Wednesdays fishing was fantastic. Capt. Kirk stayed on the fish all day. Great mix of haddock, cod and some 20lb pollock. Looks like some great weather on the way for the rest of the week. Call and make a reservation today. Plenty of room for the holiday weekend. 1/2 day fishing is running every day. 8am weekdays, and 8am and 3:30 on weekends.
