The Yankee Fleet had a busy weekend! Sat we had a 9 hour trip head out bright an early; the fishing was not so bright! Dog fish chased The Clipper all day with the morning stops being the most painful. The afternoon brought a

more fishing luck for everyone with some nice size Pollock, Cod and Haddock brought aboard. The Pool winner was a 15lb Pollock caught on a jig. The Half- day trip we won’t talk about!
Sunday brought even nicer weather than Saturday and much better fishing (phewwww) The Clipper had a nice mix of species and manage to escape heavy amounts of Dog-Fish. The Sunday pool- winner was a 15lb Cod.
I’m still waiting for the overnight fish report the Captain Josh is still sleeping and Capt Tom is painting The Patriot hopefully by Tuesday will have it!

The Clipper and Capt. Kirk headed out to a dreary Wed. morning with a private charter, despite the conditions our anglers seemed to have a good time and most importantly caught some fish! Everyone looked wet but happy when the boat returned to the dock!

We finally got a break yesterday with Mother Nature and we took full advantage of it! The Yankee Clipper headed out to the still dark skies, ( at 7am…. sucks) with a very light load of anglers. The morning bite was slow do to those pesky dog-fish, but Capt. Josh made a couple of good moves and put The Clipper on the fish. The late morning and afternoon was all about the Pollock and the pool winner was around a 17lb Pollock.
Looks like we will be stuck in port for Thursday but we do have a private charter out today so hopefully we will have a good fish report from them when they return this afternoon! We are sailing all weekend: day trips, half-day trips and an overnight Double Dip.

It has definitely been fair fishing over the past few days with the monster Hake still jumping in the boat! The Haddock bite has stayed strong and the Cod are coming in at market size. Both Oct 11 and 12th trips had very happy anglers! But all good things must end, so they say; Thurs and Fri are canceled due to mother nature. This weekend looks sunny but windy so we will have to wait and see.

Weather was perfect!
Check out the pictures from last weekends overnight, as you can see the weather was beautiful and the fish were hungry! Thanks Captain Zappa for the pictures!

Columbus Day Weekend Fishing

- Fishing Fun For all Ages
The Yankee Fleet sent two boats out to another sunny, summer-like day today what a shock it will be when fall really comes! Capt Josh took the Clipper, with a private charter, out to explore a new area that has not been fished in awhile. The first stop, on the anchor, was a productive one. That’s not to say there were not an over abundance of Blue Sharks and Dog- fish trying to ruin a perfectly good fishing day! The Clipper made a shift in postion to escape from our little scavenger friends and landed on a nice, steady Haddock bite that lasted through the afternoon. The Pool winner was a 16 lb Pollock.
The Yankee Patriot and Capt. Kirk also reported a fair day of fishing. The Dogs and Blues seemed to be less of a problem for the Patriot crew and there was a nice pick of Haddock throughout the day’s fishing. Capt Kirk also reported sizeble Cusk and Cod were in the mix and all of the fishing was done on bait! The Patriot’s pool winner was a 12 lb Cod caught by Sue Grigg.

The Yankee Freedom just returned from a gorgeous weekend overnight trip! Capt Tom reported that the sunset bite was slow on this trip and

Ron G.!
usually they get one good night bite; this trip it was very slow fishing thru the night. The moon phase might have been a factor in the slow fishing but who’s to really know what those little fish are thinking! At sunrise the bite seemed to pick up and throughout Sunday the fishing really picked up. The last stop of the day being the most successful with a great pick of market size Cod, Haddock, Cusk and some big fat Hake! There were also 5 large Wolf-fish caught and released, what a bummer to send the tasty catch back to the sea! Next overnight is this Thurs. to Fri. and we also have a weekend overnight Sat to Sun. and please remember Capt Tom wants you to save a turkey and stuff a Haddock!

Yesterdays amazing weather made for a perfect day out on the water except that the fishing was not quite up to par with the weather! Well sometimes you can’t have everything folks! We had two all day boats and a half-day head out Saturday morning to calm seas, warm temps and sunny skies; The Half day had a handful of Red Fish, some Hake and a Haddock. The Patriot faired better with a slow pick of mixed species and a 10lb pool winning Cod. The Clipper did the best out of all the boats but that might have had to do with the fact the boat was loaded with some of our best, seasoned anglers! They had a

good mix of Cod and Haddock and a monster pool winning Hake caught by Phil Chorman of Waltham, Ma.
Stay tuned for the Double-Dip update The Yankee Freedom will be returning later today from the overnight and we will post a report soon. We will be fishing all week and have another Double-Dip planned for next weekend so come get your fish on!

Monday started out with a slow pick on the anchor in the morning Capt Josh reported it was a multi-species bite with the jigs doing well for catching Pollock. They made a shift in the afternoon to a different area and had a nice bite of mostly Cod for the remainder of the day.
Tuesday’s conditions were a tad on the windy side, The Clipper made a stop into the wind for a few fish in the morning than as the conditions improved they made a long drift that produced a steady pick. The wind never the less kicked up again causing Capt. Josh to move on to another area were the jigs produced a quality bite of Cod and Pollock.
