Super Thursday 9/2: Charlie comes home!

By willy

Capt. Josh reports a good to very good 5-5 marathon trip on Thursday, a steady pick on cod and haddock with a few solid flurries thrown in. Cod made up the majority of the keeper catch, with market-sized fish and some steakers into the low 20s making a strong showing. Most haddock that came aboard were solid 5-plus-pounders, and there were some cusk and pollock in the mix as well. Blue sharks were a nuisance around the boat all day, claiming their fair share of keeper cod and haddock. High hooks had 20+ fish.

A few exotics came aboard today as well: a 40-pound torpedo ray, the second of the year, was caught and released, and a 100-pound BLUEFIN TUNA was captured as well after an hour-long battle. The fish struck a jig as it sank to the bottom, and was one of four or five hooked over the course of the day. After many hookups this year, the crew of the Yankee Clipper finally got a bluefin in the boat! Congrats to the lucky angler as well as Capt. Josh and the rest of the gang.

Friday and Saturday’s trips have been canceled, but Sunday should be a go. Call the office at 1-800-942-5464 for updates.
