Fantastic fishing all week Steady cod, haddock ,pollock and cusk. Bait still rules the catch. A few fish on the jig. Some very successful charters were put together too. Smiling faces and full bags of fish.

9/6: Capt. Josh reports a fair day of fishing overall on the Labor Day all-day trip aboard the Yankee Clipper. Two hour-long anchor stops in the morning offered the best action of the day, with anglers tallying mostly haddock with some cod and a handful of pollock, including the pool-winning 21-pounder, mixed in. In the afternoon, following the tide change, the bite tapered off somewhat, but anglers still managed to pick away at some more haddock plus some market cod.
9/7: Capt. Josh reports another fair day on the limited-load trip on the Yankee Clipper. The light load of anglers enjoyed good action on market-sized cod and medium pollock during the morning, with jigs taking most of the better-sized fish including the 19-pound pool-winning pollock. Those who could cast a jig away from the boat enjoyed the most success. During the afternoon, bait was more effective as anglers experienced a grinding pick on mostly haddock with some cod mixed in.

Capt. Josh reports a good to very good 5-5 marathon trip on Thursday, a steady pick on cod and haddock with a few solid flurries thrown in. Cod made up the majority of the keeper catch, with market-sized fish and some steakers into the low 20s making a strong showing. Most haddock that came aboard were solid 5-plus-pounders, and there were some cusk and pollock in the mix as well. Blue sharks were a nuisance around the boat all day, claiming their fair share of keeper cod and haddock. High hooks had 20+ fish.
A few exotics came aboard today as well: a 40-pound torpedo ray, the second of the year, was caught and released, and a 100-pound BLUEFIN TUNA was captured as well after an hour-long battle. The fish struck a jig as it sank to the bottom, and was one of four or five hooked over the course of the day. After many hookups this year, the crew of the Yankee Clipper finally got a bluefin in the boat! Congrats to the lucky angler as well as Capt. Josh and the rest of the gang.
Friday and Saturday’s trips have been canceled, but Sunday should be a go. Call the office at 1-800-942-5464 for updates.
